Obituary

Wilma V. Archer, 91, of Columbus, formerly of Dresden, died at 11AM Monday September 1, 2003 at the First Community Village in Columbus. Mrs. Archer was born October 12, 1911 in Murray City, Ohio, a daughter of the late John Henry and Emma (Shuttleworth) Bennett. She was a member of the Dresden U. Methodist Church and the Shakespeare Club while in Dresden and had been the librarian at the Dresden branch of the John McIntire Library. For 30 years she had worked in the furniture department at the downtown Lazarus store, retiring when she was 80 years old. Surviving is her daughter, Beverly (Henry) Rawles of Columbus; sons, Ed (Marjorie) Archer of Dresden, Robert (Nancy) Archer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, grandchildren, John, Jim and Rick Archer, Lynn and David Archer; great grandchildren, Alex, Avery and Ashlyn Archer, a brother, Robert Bennett of Sun City, Arizona and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert E. Archer, Sr., whom she married March 2, 1932, on March 8, 1994; three brothers, Joe, Jack and Pearl Bennett and a half sister, Sadie Wright. Friends may call from 1PM-2PM Saturday September 6, 2003 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2PM Saturday in the Dresden Cemetery with Pastor Ricci Arthur officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dresden U. Methodist Church; P.O. Box 111, Dresden, Ohio 43821, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
