Obituary

William L. Whyde, Sr., 58, of Dresden, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday afternoon June 16, 2005 of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Whyde was born September 20, 1946 in Zanesville, a son of the late Raymond M. Whyde and Bernice (Griffin) Whyde of Dresden. He had spent his career working at Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Newark. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and was also an avid fan of Nascar. Most importantly, he was a determined cancer survivor; being a bone marrow transplant recipient, he spoke frequently about remaining optimistic regardless of personal circumstances. Surviving are his sons, William L. (Shela) Whyde, Jr., of Frazeysburg, Robert R. (Donna) Whyde of Dresden, daughter, Cindy Whyde (Tory) Havens of Frazeysburg, former wife, Charline Whyde, brothers, Charles (Catherine) Whyde of Heath, David L. Whyde of Columbus, sister, Ruth Ann Whyde Phillips of Dresden, grandchildren, Kayla, Bryce and Daryan Whyde, William L. Whyde, III, Trisha Whyde, Jordyn Ringwalt, Evan Whyde, Casie Prince, Austin Havens, Morgan Prince, his mother in law, Betty Whelan of Dresden, his beloved pets, Sadie and Slider, several nieces nephews, great nieces and nephews and many, many friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father in law, Charlie Whelan. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8PM Monday June 20, 2005 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1PM Tuesday with Pastor Richard Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in Dresden cemetery. Donations in gratitude may be made to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, 300 W. 10th Ave. ?
