A funeral service for William G. Ray, 73 of Heath will be held Monday October 27, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Jody Holland officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery. Mr. Ray died Thursday October 23, 2008 at his residence. He was born May 6, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Paul William and Ann (Brannan) Ray. Mr. Ray an electrician most of his life owned and operated B & L Electric for over 20 years. He was a member of the Newark B.P.O.E. # 391, Druids # 41, American Legion Post 85 and VFW Post # 1060. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He spent countless hours involved in his business. He enjoyed time with his family, computers and the stock market. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Laverne (Evans) Ray, whom he married May 26, 1974; children, William G. Ray, Jr. of Portland, Oregon, Sheri Ray of Thornville, Cathy Ray of Newark, Kevin Brown of Ft. Wayne Indiana, Michael Brown of Newark; sister Toby (Bill) Kidd of Mt. Vernon; aunt, Dorothy Brannan Ferguson of Lucas, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and his special dog Annie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Timothy Ray; brothers, Robert Thomas and Douglas Miller. Calling hours will be observed Sunday October 26, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street. Druids will conduct a memorial service at 5:45 on Sunday evening.
