Obituary

William ?Bill? Larr, Jr., 83, of Adams Mills, died Monday morning April 13, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Larr was born August 12, 1925 in Conesville, a son of the late William R. and Lula Belle (Thacker) Larr. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Larr was a member of the American Legion Post #399 in Dresden, VFW Post #11072 in Dresden, Ohio National Guard 37th Reconnaissance, the AMVETS in Coshocton, the Korean War Veterans Assoc. (Graybeards) and had served as its chaplain. Bill was always very civic minded, he was a member of the North Muskingum Ruritan Club and during the 1980?s rallied community and financial support to design, construct and maintain the Adams Mills Community Park along with David Gray and Loran Prouty. Adams Mills Hog Roasts were annual fund raisers for the park organized by him. Always outdoors, he loved to hunt and fish and was known for his large gardens. He was a member of Dresden Lodge #103 F&AM and the Tyndal U. Methodist Church. In 1984 he retired from General Electric in Coshocton after 38 years. Surviving are his wife, Charlotte E. (Vickers) Larr whom he married May 29, 1947; one daughter, Dixie Lee Wyler of Adams Mills; one grandson, Blaine W. Wyler of Adams Mills, one sister, Wilma Brinkman of California; his caregiver the past three years, Betty Wright of Coshocton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Brett William Larr in 1966; a brother, Harvey Larr, sisters, Ethel Larr Smith, Theresa Larr Welsh Barrick, Janie Larr Moyer Griffith and Eloise Ashcraft. Friends may call 11AM-1PM Saturday April 18, 2009 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1PM with Pastor Charles Warren, Rev. Ray Sunkle and Mr. Larr?s nephew, Dr. G. Malcolm Evans, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or charity of the donor?s choice.
