William D. Hughes, 94 of Newark died on Wednesday July 28, 2021 at his residence. He was born May 23, 1927 in Etna Township to Harry C. and Pleasant Dale (Wells) Hughes. In following with his wishes there will not be a public funeral service.

Mr. Hughes retired after 34 years with Kaiser Aluminum. He was a member of Newark Masonic Lodge # 97 F &AM for over 60 years. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. Mr. Hughes had built his home and resided there for over 64 years.

He is survived by his children, Patricia L. Hughes, Thomas A. (Stephanie) Hughes of Newark, D. Timothy Hughes of Solon, OH; grandchildren, Thomas A. Hughes. II, Shea M. (Hailey) Hughes, Scott Hughes, Mariah K. Peirce, Sarah E. Moore all of Newark, Mellisa Napier of Heath, Zachary Hughes of Columbus, Johnna Hughes of Los Angeles, CA; great-grandchildren, William Peirce, Mason Saunders, Michelle Grant, Brynleigh Miller, Jameson Hughes, Daxton Hughes, Trenton Hughes, Sophia Jones, Karamia Miller, Chloe Hughes, Raelyn Hughes; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Alice (Ashley) Hughes; sisters, Rachel Darkes and Betty Lauterbach.
