Cox, Sr., 60 of Newark will be held at Springs Hills Baptist Church with Pastor Jeffrey Pound officiating.Mr. Cox died Sunday August 8, 2004 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born September 8, 1943 in Dresden, Ohio to the late John Hamilton and Katie Leona (Green) Cox. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Zay.Mr. Cox retired from Rockwell International in 1998 with 33 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local # 1037, Thornport AMVETS and Spring Hills Baptist Church. He was a 1962 graduate of Jefferson High School and enjoyed woodworking.He is survived by his wife, Cynthia K. (Oswald) Cox whom he married June 17, 1989; daughters, Teresea Cox of Duncan Falls, Brittany Nicole Cox of Newark; sons, William C. Cox, Jr., James Gavin Cox both of Duncan Falls; sisters, Ruth Wolf, Bonnie Swendryck both of Zanesville; granddaughter, Nikita Lynn Cox; step-children, Brandon Oswald, Chad Pace, Keisha (Brian) Green all of Newark; step-grandchildren, Caitlin Pace, Mikayla Green, Lexie Green, Haile Rardon, Michael Rardon, Trentin Rardon; mother-in-law, Gwen Johnson of Newark; sister-in-law, Laurie Oswald of Columbus; brothers-in-law, Mark Oswald of Washington Court House, Tom Oswald, Josh Johnson both of Newark; several nieces, nephews and special friends, Bob and Melissa Thompson of Newark.The family requests memorial contributions to the Arthritis Foundation Central Ohio Chapter 3740 Ridge Mill Drive Hilliard, Ohio 43026.Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street Newark is in charge of arrangements.
