William J. ?Bill? Pierce, 79, of Zanesville, died Friday morning January 5, 2007 at his home following an illness of several months. Mr. Pierce was born October 3, 1927 in Morgan County, a son of the late Thomas and Grace (Church) Pierce. He had retired from the Zanesville State Nursery. For over 40 years Mr. Pierce visited nursing homes weekly in Guernsey, Morgan and Muskingum counties. Mr. Pierce served in the US Army in Germany. He is survived by brothers, John Pierce of Zanesville, Thomas (Tink) Pierce of Chandlersville, Harry (Penny) Pierce of Zanesville; sisters, Margaret (John) Lane of Zanesville, Norma (Clifford) Bagley of Hopewell, Donna (Paul) Evans of Frazeysburg and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Pierce, Ralph Pierce; sisters Lillie Belle Brandom Palmer and Gladys Scott. Friends may call 3-8PM Sunday January 7, 2006 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home in Adamsville. A funeral service will be held at 11AM Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Hina officiating. Burial will take place at a later date on Mr. Pierce?s farm. In memory of Bill, the family requests you spend time at a nursing home in the near future to brighten someone?s day.
