William F. ?Bill? Clark, 82, of Dresden died at 1:30 PM Monday May 21, 2007 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Mr. Clark was born February 2, 1925 in Zanesville, a son of Thomas E. and Ruth (Birkhimer) Clark. He attended Adamsville High School and was Catholic by faith. He retired from Armco Steel in Zanesville after 30 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Mr. Clark was a life-time member of the Charles M. Mitchell American Legion Post #399 where he served as a past Post Commander. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Dresden and D.A.V. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ruth (Burkhard) Clark, whom he married October 4, 1947; children, Connie (Clyde) Buckmaster of Frazeysburg, Cindy (Jim) Kronenbitter of Zanesville, Jay L. Clark of Newark, Jim (Ann) Clark of Dresden, Christine (Terry) King of Zanesville and Cathy Clark of Westerville; ten grandchildren, Mindy Ruggles, Tim Kronenbitter, Stephanie Hinds, Kevin Buckmaster, Kaci King, Kelly Buckmaster, Tara Pritchard, Tom Clark, Tim Clark and Lisa Clark; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Sam (Skip) Clark of Zanesville; a sister, Virginia Miller of Zanesville and caregiver, Grace Rinker of Frazeysburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgeanna Beatty and Rhea Finley. Friends may call 6-8PM Wednesday May 23, 2007 and 2-4PM and 6-8 PM Thursday May 24, 2007 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home in Dresden, where services will be held at 1:00PM Friday with Frank Coon officiating.
