A funeral service for Willard D. McClain, 75 of Newark will be held Saturday May 9, 2009 at 3 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Mr. McClain died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at this residence. He was born March 3, 1934 in Salem, West Virginia to the late Millard and Mary (Ramage) McClain. Mr. McClain retired in 1986 with 34 years of service at Rockwell International. He was also a member of Local #1037 U.A.W. and the Rockwell Retirees. Mr. McClain was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a dedicated hard worker and enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching all types of sports. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Velma M. (Wood) McClain whom he married December 16, 1961; daughters, Trisha (Bruce) Frey of Newark, Beth McClain of Newark; son, Jeffrey McClain of Thornville; sister, Veris Sammons of Indiana; brothers, Hugh (Janice) McClain of Meeker, Oklahoma, Dean McClain of Newark; sisters-in-law, Charlene Braden of Heath, Irene Presley of Newark; grandchildren, Dusty McClain, Madison Frey, Hayden Frey; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger McClain and sister, Connie Sines.
