A funeral service for Warren Dallas Raines, 81 of Newark will be 1:00 p.m. Friday February 23, 2007 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. William Rauch officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens. Mr. Raines died Monday February 19, 2007 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center. He was born January 13, 1926 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Hollie V. and Loshie E. (Bibbee) Raines. Mr. Raines served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked for over 30 years with B & O Railroad as a train dispatcher. He was a member of the Order of Railroad Telegraphers, American Train Dispatchers Association, and American Legion Post 85. He was affectionately known around town as ?the blind man with the oxygen tank?. Survivors include his three daughters, Jean Anne (Clarence) Tilton of Canton, Jacqueline Raines of Eustis, FL., and Joy (Alan) Ambrogne of Altamonte Springs, Fl.; grandchildren Brian (Jill) Tilton, Bruce Tilton, Amanda Dutton, Joe Dutton; great grandchildren, Alexandria Tilton, Becca and Natalie Tilton; brothers, Carlos Raines of Sanford, Florida, Harold Raines of Pennsville, Ohio, Allen Raines of Rockby Lock, Ohio; sisters, Delores Mitchell of Beverly, Ohio, Dorothy ?Jerry? (Raines) Ward of Florida, Wanda Lacey and Wilma Sams, both of Waterford, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Mr. Raines was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Beverly Louise Raines, whom he married November 30, 1946 and who died January 23, 2007; a brother Clarence Raines; and a great grandson Alexander Tilton. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
