FRAZEYSBURG - Funeral services for Warren S. Mears, 91, formerly of Hanover, will be 11:00am Tuesday, July 10, 2007 in the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlsie Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery. Mr. Mears died Friday morning, July 6, 2006.Mr. Mears was born June 26, 1916 in Hanover, Ohio, to John Lester and Esther Ethel McCann Mears. He was raised on the family farm in Hanover Township and showed sheep at the Ohio State and Licking County Fairs. He was to spend his life enjoying his vocation of farming.He married Mary June Oliver on November 22, 1947 in Sonora, Muskingum County, Ohio. They lived on the farm adjacent to his father?s farm, and raised two sons and two daughters. Mary June died in 1988, and he married Constance C. Baldwin on May 6, 1998.A life long member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church, he served numerous times as an elder, trustee and Sunday School teacher. He would report for his church at both presbytery and synod meetings. He was active in 4-H clubs in Hanover and Toboso, and judged FFA projects at Licking Valley High School. Upon the death of their daughter, Jane Lewis, Warren and Mary June established a scholarship at Ohio State University for graduates of Licking Valley High School interested in agriculture and home economics.An amateur archeologist Mr. Mears gave presentations on Indian artifacts to local schools, young groups and elder hostels. He also made a presentation to the Ohio Archaeological Society on Flint Ridge workshops.He enjoyed his many associations with community groups, including: the Licking Valley Lions Club, Licking County Farm Bureau Council, Licking County Agrarian Club, Flint Ridge Explorers Club, The Ohio State Historical Society, The Flint Ridge Chapter of the Ohio Archaeological Society and the Auydomus Club.Three children; John of Centennial, Colorado; Ruth of Clarion, Pennsylvania; and Carl of Louisville, Kentucky, survive his death. He has four granddaughters; Erin Palmer of Everett, Washington: Kristen Autrey of Littleton, Colorado; Amy Mears of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Kerry Mears of Carlsbad, Colorado.
