Walter Ray Nye, III, 55, of Trinway died Tuesday June 8, 2010 at Lafayette Pointe Care Center in West Lafayette from complications of diabetes.
Ray was born January 7, 1955 in Lancaster, a son of the late Walter Ray and Mona (Kennedy) Nye. A 1973 graduate of Tri-Valley High School, he had worked at the Ohio Plastic Co. in Frazeysburg and then worked from 1974 to 1992 at K-Mart in Zanesville and was an assistant manager. He received an Associates Degree in Applied Business from MATC and was a peer tutor while in school. As a professional photographer, he worked at J& B Studio in Heath and was a member of Professional Photographers of Ohio and the Professional Freelance Photographers of America. Ray joined Dresden Lodge #103 F.&A.M. in 1981, was master of the lodge twice, in 1985 and 1989, a member of the Dresden Royal Arch Masons and served as Grand High Priest in 1986 and a member of Samaritan Chapter #50 in Coshocton.
Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth Marie (Adam) Miller of Virginia, Sarah Rae (Nathaniel) Higgins of Nashport; a grandson, Bryson William Higgins; his brothers and sisters, Rosemary (Jerry) Moore of Dresden, Vickey (Wayne) Lauvray of Adams Mills, Eugene (Debra) Nye of Dresden, Monica (Dean) Brown of Coshocton, Cheryl Carothers of Dresden, Timothy Nye of Nashport, Jeffrey Nye of Trinway, John (Katherine) Nye of Proctorville, Lori (Dan) Birkhimer of Dresden and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 6-9PM Friday June 11, 2010 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11AM with Pastor Tom Scott officiating, friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery. Masonic Services will be held at 8PM Friday at the funeral home.
