Walter "Bud" L. Dorsey, 85, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Thursday night, February 29, 2024 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.

Born December 15, 1938 in Licking County, he was a son of the late Donald H. & Kathryn M. (Osborn) Dorsey and a 1956 graduate of Frazeysburg High School.  Bud served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963 and worked over 44 years as a telegraph operator for the B&O CSX Railroad, where he retired in 2003.  He was a member of the Perryton Church of Christ, the Farm Bureau, the Newark American Legion, and the Licking County Cattleman's Association.  He enjoyed farming, blue grass music and taking his faithful dog, Curly, everywhere he went. Bud had a heart of gold and was always ready to help someone in need.

Surviving are his children, David Dorsey and Denise (Ron) Parsons; six grandchildren, a brother, Donald (Sharon) Dorsey, and his dog, Curly. He is also survived by his niece and caregiver, Lori Dorsey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Derrick Dorsey, a grandchild, and a nephew, Brent Dorsey.

Friends and family may visit from NOON until the time of service at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute, 110 West Third Street.

Bud will be laid to rest beside his parents in Irville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Licking County Humane Society.
