Vivian B. Mathew, 86, of Dresden, died at 11:20PM Wednesday June 6, 2007 at Union Hospital in Dover. Mrs. Mathew was born May 31, 1921 in Canton, a daughter of the late Charles M. and Ruth Eleanor (Wallace) Mitchell. She was active in Girl Scouts for 25 years, serving as a camp director and a troop leader and was a member of the Charles M. Mitchell Post #399 American Legion Women?s Auxiliary. An avid reader and devoted Christian, she attended the Dresden U. Methodist and Coburn U. Methodist Churches and was active in Women?s Aglow and the Kismet Club in Dresden. Surviving are a daughter, BJ (Ray) McFadden of Newcomerstown, a son, David (Donna) Mathew of Dresden; grandchildren, Amanda McFadden of Worthington, Mitch McFadden of Cleveland, Michael Mathew of Middleburg, FL, Cory Mathew of Dresden and Delisa Nash of Ellicott City, MD; her brother, Charles M. ?Bud? (Carol) Mitchell, Jr. of Dresden, a sister, Maxine (Martin) Makboulean of CA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert R. Mathew, whom she married Aug. 20, 1942 and who died Sept. 11, 1994 and sisters, Mildred (Poots) Mattingly, Jane Dickerson and Gloria (Whiss) Dobson. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8PM Saturday June 9, 2007 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home in Dresden, where services will be held at 3PM Sunday. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charles M. Mitchell Post #399 American Legion, Auxiliary and Sons of the Legion.
