Virginia Lea Stockdale, 79, of Dresden, Ohio died peacefully at her home. Her loving family was at her side.

Born March 8, 1939 in Akron, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Gordon J. Reid, Sr. and Pyretta E. (Waple) Reid. She was a 1957 graduate of Zanesville High School and was a homemaker. Mrs. Stockdale had also worked for Dr. Lasky and Dr. Krohn, Social Supper of Dresden and the Human Resources Department of the Longaberger Company. She was a member of the Coshocton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and her greatest love was caring for her family.

Surviving are two sons, Michael (Vicki) Stead of Hudson, South Dakota and Robert (Michele) Stockdale, II of St. Augustine, Florida; three daughters, Cheryl (Dave) Henderhan of Trinway, Ohio, Karen Noland of Thornville, Ohio and Carolyn (Steve) Dorr of Nashport, Ohio; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother Gordon J. Reid, Jr. of Sugarland, Texas; one sister, Lana Staley of Cincinnati, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 52 years, Robert Stockdale, I, whom she married March 11, 1961 and who died October 26, 2012 and a sister, Mary Bohn.

Calling hours will be 6pm to 8pm Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the funeral. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
