FRAZEYSBURG ? Virginia Montgomery, 91, of Nashport, Ohio went home to be with the Lord at 2:00am Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at the Arlington Nursing Home in Newark, Ohio. Born January 25, 1915 in Flushing, Ohio, she was the eldest child of the late Charles and Bessie (Rowland) Simpson. Mrs. Montgomery was a retired elementary school teacher. She taught at Madison Elementary School in Licking County from 1951 to 1953 and for twenty-two years, from 1953 to 1975 she taught fourth grade at Hazelwood Elementary School in Newark. Mrs. Montgomery was a member of the Perryton United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women?s Auxiliary, the Farm Bureau, the Perry Township Historical Society and the Retired Teachers Association. In 1932 Virginia enrolled at Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. In 1933 she went home with her college friend, Mabel Montgomery, to visit Mabel?s family; at that time Virginia Simpson met Jesse Montgomery. One year later Jesse quit Dennison University in Granville, Ohio and Virginia postponed her education to be married. They were married September 4, 1934 and lived together for 56 years in the Montgomery Historical Homestead on Dragoo Road, Nashport, Ohio. Later, in 1956, Virginia graduated with her B. S. in education from Muskingum College. Surviving are two sons and daughters in-law, John and Barbara Montgomery of Lancaster, Ohio and Spencer and Linda Montgomery of Nashport; one daughter and son in-law, Jane and Larry Schrock of Santa Paula California; ten grandchildren, Mike (Debra) Montgomery of Sunbury, Ohio, Mark Montgomery of Bradenton, Florida, Rod (Tamara) Montgomery of Texas, Todd (Christie) Montgomery of Newark, Chad (Amanda) Montgomery of Uniontown, Ohio, Nicole (Scott) McLaughlin of Liberty, Missouri, Julie (Alan) Morgan of Las Vegas, Nevada, Janell (Kevin) Lusk of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jon (Tasha) Schrock of Castaic, California and Jana Schrock of Venice Beach, California; twenty-two great grandchildren, Graham and Jared Montgomery, Ryan Montgomery, Rusty, Jeremy, Jessica, Kaitlyn and Joshua Montgomery, Alyssa and Adrianna Montgomery, Brennan and Kavan McLaughlin, Rhys and Chase Morgan, Emily, Sarah, Levi, Olivia, Heidi and Larry Lusk, Taylor, Jordan and Tahlia Schrock; and one sister, Marie Bond of Niles, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Montgomery, who died December 5, 1991, a sister, Veda Ransbottom and a brother Harold Simpson. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street, Frazeysburg. Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the funeral home with the Rev. Roger Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
