Obituary

Virginia M. "Ginnie" Mattingly, 89, of Zanesville, Ohio died Friday afternoon, April 22, 2016 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville.
Born November 3, 1926 in Zanesville she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret (Deitrick) Thomas and was a 1944 graduate of Lash High School. She was also a graduate of Merideth Business College of Zanesville. Ginnie was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church; the Zanesville Women's Club and several different area Bridge Clubs. She worked at Line Material/McGraw-Edison Company prior to moving to Toledo, Ohio with her husband, Richard C. "Dick" Mattingly. In Toledo she worked in the office of St. Francis DeSales High School for 39 years.
Surviving are two sisters, Martha Stemm of Zanesville and Shirley Smith of Lake Wylie's, South Carolina; a sister in-law, Charlotte Thomas of St. Clairsville, Ohio and eighteen nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Mattingly whom she married June 3, 1950 and who died March 4, 2008; two brothers, William Thomas and Larry Thomas; her brothers in-law, Rolland Stemm and Thomas Smith; a sister in-law, Lucille Thomas and a brother in-law and sister in-law, Richard "Dick" and Mary Ann Mahaffey.
Calling hours will be 6pm to 8pm Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at the Mattingly Settlement, St. Mary's Road, Nashport, Ohio, with Father Ronald Olszewski and Father Donald Franks as celebrants. Burial will be in Mattingly Settlement Cemetery.
