NEWARK ? A funeral service for Mrs. Virgil Hollingshead, 93 of Newark, will be at 1:00PM Thursday April 6, 2006 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Don Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Hollingshead went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 17, 1912 in Byesville, Ohio to the late Ira G. and Lizzie (Harris) Hall. She had lived in Newark since 1949 and was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church for many years, and recently a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church. Mrs. Hollingshead was an avid quilter. She touched countless lives over the years with her kind words and prayers. Surviving are her sons, John (Dorothy) Hollingshead of Newark, Jerry (Marjorie) Hollingshead of Newark, Everett (Judy) Hollingshead of Newark; daughters, Marjorie (Paul) McConnell of Newark, Joyce (Larry) McCreary of Newark, Esther (Bill) Chapel of Cleveland; daughter in-laws, Evelyn Hollingshead of Newark, and Peggy Hollingshead of Newark; sisters, Pauline Goodwin, Betty Salzgaber, and Mildred Taylor; 25 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hollingshead was preceded in death by her husband Hiram Hollingshead, whom she married July 3, 1929, and who died December 28, 1990; sons, Hiram ?Bing? Hollingshead, Jr., and Ronald ?Lefty? Hollingshead; three brothers; three sisters; and two grandchildren. Friends may call from 6-8 Wednesday at the funeral home, 1850 West Main Street, Newark.
