Violet I. Wheeler, 99, of Nashport, Ohio died Sunday afternoon, July 23, 2017 at Cedar Hill Care Center in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born April 5, 1918 in Brushcreek Township of Muskingum County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred L. and Mary I. (Ziegler) Mautz. Violet was a graduate of Roseville High School and a life-time resident of Muskingum County. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church and an associate member of the Muskingum County Country Music Hall of Fame.
Surviving are three sons, Willard L. (Sharon) Wheeler, of Nashport, Larry C. (Sylvia) Wheeler of Hobe Sound, Florida and Carmen K. (Carol) Wheeler of Nashport; one daughter, Mary Ann Fleming of Zanesville; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two sisters, Dona L. Wheeler of Zanesville and Miriam E. (William) Clum of Montgomery, Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 67 years, Clinton L. Wheeler whom she married June 30, 1940 and who died March 11, 2007; one son, Marvin L. Wheeler who died September 5, 2010; a son in-law, James Fleming and a sister, Lucy E. Edwards.
Calling hours will be 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Judson officiating. Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
