Obituary

A funeral service for Vernon E. Stradley, 71 of Newark will be held, Friday, January 24, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cox United Methodist Church, 50 S. 30th Street, Newark, with Pastor Michael Gladfelter officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens. Mr. Stradley died Tuesday January 21, 2003 at Mt. Carmel West Medical Center, Columbus. He was born September 22, 1931, in Eden Township, Licking County to the late Harold Stradley and Alice (Oldaker) Stradley Holton. Mr. Stradley retired in 1989 from Owens Corning Fiberglas as an oiler. He was a member of GMP Local #244. He was a member of Cox United Methodist Church since 1953, where he was active as an usher and trustee. He also belonged to Moundbuilders Euchre Club. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years Iva R. (Westenbarger) Stradley whom he married on June 30, 1950; two sons, Daniel L. Stradley and John M. Stradley of Newark; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Janet and Todd Watson of Newark; grandson, Tyler Jay Watson; brother, Dale (Annabelle) Stradley of Utica; sisters-in-law, Shirley Stradley of St. Louisville and Alice Holtz of Newark; several step-brothers, step-sisters, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be observed Friday January 24, 2003 from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Cox United Methodist Church 50 S. 30th Street. The family requests memorial contributions to the Cox United Methodist Church.
