Obituary

Vernon W. "V.W.P." Parsons, 71, of Dresden, Ohio died Sunday afternoon, March 31, 2013 at Brandon Regional Hospital in Brandon, Florida.
Born November 25, 1941 in Parkersburg, West Virginia he was a son of the late Wayne N. and Vallie D. (Nicholson) Parsons and was a 1960 graduate of Point Pleasant High School. He was owner and operator of MS. Parsons Construction and he retired in 1998 because of health reasons. Vernon was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in McConnellsville, Ohio and a member of Dresden Lodge #103, F. & A. M. He was also a retired member of the Dresden Volunteer Fire Department. He loved working in his shop doing wood crafts and he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandchildren, rebuilding and working on his winter home in Florida and golfing.
Surviving is his wife of nearly 52 years, Janet "Kay" (Calendine) Parsons whom he married June 3, 1961; three daughters and sons in-law, Kimberly K. and Rocky Brownfield of Nashport, Ohio, Kelly L. and Randy Wycinski of New Lexington, Ohio and Karen E. and Drake Prouty of Dresden; six grandchildren, Melissa Brownfield, Aaron Brownfield, Sydney Lapp, Dayne Prouty, Mitchell Wycinski and Jared Wycinski; two brothers, Clarence M. (Patricia) Parsons of Zanesville and Richard W. (Rita) Parsons of Dresden and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lacey Lapp.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 9pm Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street. Dresden Lodge will conduct Masonic services following calling hours on Friday.
Calling hours will also be for 1 hour prior to the service which will be 11:00am Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Dresden United Methodist Church, 1014 Main Street with the Rev. Dr. Herbert Hicks officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dresden Volunteer Fire Department or to the American Cancer Society.
