Vernon Ray King, 75, of Warsaw, Ohio, formerly of Frazeysburg, died Monday morning, November 15, 2021 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.

Born September 17, 1946 in Portsmouth, Ohio he was a son of the late Ernest E. and Garnet M. (Perkins) King.  Vernon proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was a very energetic man and enjoyed working.  As well as being a lifelong farmer he also was an oil well driller, owning his own rigs, he was a truck driver for many years having worked for several different companies, and he worked in construction, building several homes.  Most of all, Vernon was a loving husband to his wife, Barbara and a loving father to his son, Scott.

Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara S. (Kaltenbach) King whom he married October 22, 1966; his loving son, Scott King of Newark, Ohio; and a foster son, Robert McGinnis of McDonald, Tennessee.  Also surviving are three brothers, Ernest (Camilla) King, Jr. of Newark, Alvin (Mary) King and Jeffrey (Shelia) King, both of Minford, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by a daughter in-law, Heather King, who died September 10, 2021; two brothers, Ronald King and Larry King and a sister, Darlene Giles.

Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.

Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1pm with Pastor Bill Dunfee officiating.  Vernon will be laid to rest in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
