A funeral service for Velma L. Baughman, 86 of Newark will be held on Monday February 5, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Barbara Sholis officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Baughman died Thursday February 1, 2007 at the Forest Hills Center in Columbus, Ohio hours after her husband of 66 years, Lowell Baughman died in Newark. The Baughman?s were married on February 25, 1940. Mrs. Baughman was born October 11, 1920 in Newark to the late Ray F. and Lula (Van Horn) Shepherd. Mrs. Baughman was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed the outdoors and doing yard work. She loved gardening. She and her husband spent many hours attending antique sales and flea markets. Survivors include a son, Gordon S. Baughman of St. Paul, Minn.; niece, Cyndi (Dave) McPhaden of Newark; nephew, Larry (Robin) Shoemaker of Newark; great nieces, Bethany Warthen of Grove City, Jennifer (Louie) Johnson of Greenville, NC.; Amy (Mike) Gray of New Albany and great nephew, Matthew Shoemaker of Newark. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Baughman was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Shoemaker. Calling hours will be observed Sunday February 4, 2007 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to The First United Methodist Church 88 N.
