Terry Lee Dayton, 68 of Boiling Spring Lakes, North Carolina, formerly of Frazeysburg, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in North Carolina.
Born May 15, 1946 in Newark, Ohio he was a son of the late, Willis W. and Lula M. (Toothman) Dayton and was a 1964 graduate of Frazeysburg High School. After high school he joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He received several medals and accomplishments and received the Purple Heart. He worked his way through College and received a BS Degree in Business Management & Marketing from Franklin University Columbus, Ohio. He was employed with General Electric Company and retired after 40 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #399 in Dresden, Ohio and was a former member of the Frazeysburg Volunteer Fire Department. Terry's passion was helping and coaching young girls of the Tri-Valley Biddy League and was a father figure to many. After moving to Boiling Spring Lakes he was affiliated with the VFW Post 10400 and attended the Full Gospel House of Prayer Church. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. He also loved NASCAR racing and driving his Corvette. Terry never met a stranger and loved to tell jokes. His smile and his love for life will live in our hearts forever.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Judy (Shields) Dayton; three daughters, Teresa (Sam) Rogers of Pataskala, Ohio, Julie DePriest of Boiling Springs, NC and Angela Dayton of Gahanna, Ohio; five grandchildren, Jared & Logan Rogers, Brea, Donnia & Braedon DePriest.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Gary Dayton.
Calling hours will be from 1pm to 3pm Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Memorial services will be at 3pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
