FRAZEYSBURG ? Ted M. Fletcher, 85, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Wednesday afternoon, September 16, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio. Born January 20, 1924 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Mabel (Muma) Fletcher. After graduating from Newcomerstown High School in 1942, he attended the Chicago Technical College. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Navy and was a life member of Wakatomika Post #6193, VFW. Mr. Fletcher was retired from Ohio Oil Gathering Corporation and he was a member of Frazeysburg United Methodist Church and Frazeysburg Lodge #490, F & A M. He was also a farmer with a love for horses. He was a former director of the Ohio Quarter Horse Association and he was a co-founder of the HRNA Halflinger Futurity Association. Surviving is his wife, Barbara A. Matchett Denman Fletcher, whom he married September 5, 1997; two sons, James M. (Sandra) Fletcher of Signal Mountain, Tennessee and Mark R. Fletcher of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Susan (Max) Allen of Coshocton, Ohio and Debra D. (Brad) Fuller of Strasburg, Ohio; a step-son, Rev. Michael (Pamela) Denman of Toledo, Ohio; three step-daughters, Robin (Gregg) Gosky of Newark, Ohio, Denise (Larry Gates) Oxley of Grove City, Ohio and Janette Ashcraft of Hilliard, Ohio; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one step-great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Fletcher; a former wife, Madeline Fletcher Jackson; and a former wife, Elinor E. (Waggoner) Fletcher, whom he married June 19, 1962 and who died June 17, 1996. Calling hours will be 4 to 8pm Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street where Masonic services will be conducted at 8:00pm by Frazeysburg Lodge 490. Calling hours will also be one hour prior to the service, which will be at 11:00am Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church, 87 West Second Street, with the Rev. Jeff Belt officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery with Wakatomika Post 6193, VFW conducting military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 455, Frazeysburg, Ohio 43822.
