A funeral service for James Steven "Steve" Alkire, 65 of Heath will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2025 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home | Newark with Pastor Brian Redman officiating.  Burial will be at Wilson Cemetery.

Steve passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, April 2, 2025 at his residence.   He was born August 28, 1959 in Parkersburg, WV to the late James R. and Celia S. (Eaton) Alkire. Steve worked as a manager at several local restaurants, most recently at Tumbleweed and Cracker Barrel.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jeanette (Williams) Alkire; children, Nicholas Hester, Katie (Paul) Holcomb and Amanda Hester (Daniel Woods); grandchildren, Dakota, Kianna, Lily, Aniyah, Annalynn, and Lucian; brothers, Kreig (Theresa) Alkire, Darren, Alkire; a sister, Jenny (Alvin) Wharton; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Ricky Alkire.

Friends and family may visit from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
