Stephanie Ann Caughenbaugh, 75, of Toboso, died Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 29, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Stephen E. and Charlotte M. (Lamb) Jones. Stephanie was a 1966 graduate of Newark High School and she received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri. She taught first and second grade at Toboso Elementary from 1970 until 1977. Following her teaching career, she dedicated the rest of her life to being the best mother and Mammy to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed following them through all their activities, attending church functions, watching her programs, and eating chocolate…and not necessarily in that order! Stephanie attended Toboso United Methodist Church and was a Sunday School teacher.
Surviving is her loving husband of 52 years, Jackie Lee Caughenbaugh, whom she married November 25, 1971 at Christ United Methodist Church; children, Kristy (Kevin) Gossett, Josh (Angie) Caughenbaugh, and Amanda (Christopher) Hite; grandchildren, Morgan (Dylan) Wamsley, Christian Gossett, Mason Caughenbaugh, Kelsie Caughenbaugh, Matthew Hite, Nate Hite, Jason Hite, Joey Hite, and Jaxson Hite and a great grandson, Bentley Wamsley. Also surviving are her mother in-law, Pauline Caughenbaugh; brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Linda Jones, Dennis (Martha) Caughenbaugh, Chuck (Connie) McKee, Terry Caughenbaugh, and Mark (Lori) Caughenbaugh; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Stephen A. "Butch" Jones; her father in-law, Clarence "Dutch" Caughenbaugh, and a sister in-law, Peggy McKee.
Calling hours will be 4pm to 8pm Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street. Calling hours will also be one hour prior to the funeral service.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the funeral home with Pastor Thomas Tipton, Rev. Theresa Wallington-Tipton and Pastor Don Moshgat officiating. Stephanie will be laid to rest in Poplar Fork Cemetery, Gratiot, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Stephanie to the Toboso United Methodist Church, 2364 Gratiot Road SE, Newark, Ohio 43056.
