A Celebration of Life service for Stanley K. Houston, 97 of Newark will be held at a later date.

Mr. Houston died Sunday evening December 1, 2024 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born November 9, 1927 in New Lexington to the late Clarence and Josephine (Downs) Houston.

He was a graduate of New Straitsville High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW #1060, American Legion Post 85. He retired in 1987 from Rockwell Manufacturing as a machine repairman with 32 years of service.  He was a member of UAW Local 1037 and Rockwell Retirees.  He was active for over 50 years at the White Chapel United Methodist Church.  He was a devoted golfer and planned many trips to Myrtle Beach.

Survivors include his daughter, Karen Pitcock of Roseville; seven grandchildren, James (Valerie) Norris, Greg (Allison) Norris, Eric (Molly) Lane, Lisa (Dave) Patton, Gary Houston, Jr., Chrissy (John) Dwyer, Cody (Cassie) Stradley; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Borelli of Cleveland, Teddie Tucker of Logan; daughter-in-law, Karla Houston of Granada, MS; several nieces, nephews; extended family Brenda (Darl) Keller; close friends, Rick and Edna Frey.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Ocean (Tucker) Houston; children, Connie Parsons, Lorna Stanley, Gary Houston; granddaughter, Misty Giffin

A visitation will be observed on Thursday December 5, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home.
