A funeral service for Shirley Rafferty, 89, of Groveport, OH will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Chaplain Mark Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.

Shirley was born August 5, 1934 in Logan, OH to the late Paul and Helen (Ross) Pickett. She was a graduate of Logan High School.

Shirley was lucky in life to have a loving family she adored, and she stayed busy with all of her neighbor friends. She loved to take trips, play slots at Scioto Downs, play bingo, knit, and cook (sharing everything with family and neighbors). Shirley hosted bingo for many years at the party house at the condo.

Survivors include a daughter, Pam (Rod) Evans of Newark; a son, Mike (Mindy) Rafferty of Ormond Beach, FL; grandchildren, Zack Evans, Megan Evans, Tonya (Ed) Conrad, and Scott Michael Huff; great-grandchildren, Samantha Conrad and Gauge Huff; and a sister, Vivian (Bill) Strohschein.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, William "Bill" Rafferty, whom she married October 7, 1956 and who died November 10, 2003; brothers, Robert Pickett and Pete Pickett.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, OH 43055. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
