A memorial service for Sherry L. DeVault, 84 of Granville will be held Saturday August 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Heath Christian Union Church, 80 Licking View Drive, Heath with Pastor Neal Skiles and Pastor David Welsch officiating. Friends may visit at the church one hour prior to the service.

Sherry went home to be with her Savior on Sunday July 30, 2023 at the Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 2, 1939 in Newark to Howard and Rachel (Hughes) Darkes.

Sherry was a 1959 graduate of Granville High School. She was employed as a seamstress at Buckeye Linen Service for 16 years. She also made garments and completed alterations from her home. She served as an advisor for the Union Busy Fingers 4-H Club.  She was part of the Dolittle Craft Club for several years.

She was an active member of Heath Christian Union Church and served as the treasurer for a number of years.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina DeVault of Newark; sister, Kay (John) George of Florida; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John L. DeVault in 2017; and sister, Patricia Cunningham.

The family requests memorial contributions to Heath Christian Union Church or Hospice of Central Ohio.

The Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
