Obituary

A funeral service for Sebert L. Wilson, 84 of Newark will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Apostolic Temple, 2285 Rock Haven Road, Newark with Pastor Mark Ledbetter and Bishop Paul Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.

Sebert went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center. He was born May 6, 1938 in Nicut, West Virginia to Leon and Dona (McCombers) Wilson.

Mr. Wilson was the longtime owner of Sebert Wilson Building Contractors retiring in 1998. Mr. Wilson enjoyed attending Blue Grass Festivals and camping.  He and his wife had traveled throughout the United States. He was present at many of the yearly "Swapper Day" activities. He participated successfully in many Truck Pulls and winning many awards with "Old Brown."

He is survived by his children, Timothy (Marcy) Wilson of Frazeysburg, Jeffrey (Robin) Wilson, Bradley (Alexis) Wilson, Andrew (Cathy) Wilson all of Newark; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Charlene Dillon of Newark, Linda Thompson of Pickerington; brothers, Jimmy Wilson, Glen (Judy) Wilson all of Newark; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, G. Irene (Brown) Wilson on April 1, 2022; brother, Steve Wilson, granddaughter, Jessica Wilson.

Visitation will be observed on Monday, July 11, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street.

The family requests contributions to Hospice of Central Ohio, Attn: Philanthropic Development, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, OH 43055-9323. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
