Scott Allen Freshwater, 50, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, formerly of Dresden, Ohio, was called to be with his Lord on January 1, 2012.
Born June 14, 1961 in Ravenna, Ohio he is the son of Dick Freshwater of Dresden and late Kay (Jacoby) Freshwater. After the painful loss of their wife and mother the Freshwater's, Dick, Scott and his younger sister Lisa, moved to Dresden.
Scott was an active youngster whose accolades included revered camp counselor, Eagle Scout, Masonic Demolay, devout Christian (Methodist), track star and honor student. After graduating from Tri-Valley High School in 1979, he received a full scholarship to The Ohio State University and earned his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. He procured an MBA in Real Estate from Southern Methodist University while working for The Frito-Lay Company.
Scott was adored by all who knew him, mostly because of his kind, giving nature and his heart-warming smile. A successful businessman, he lived in various cities around the country, including Dallas, Santa Monica, Las Vegas and Hendersonville. He became Vice President and General Manager of The Rouse Company and was responsible for managing the Santa Monica Place Mall and for the building of the huge, cloud-like addition to the Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas strip. Tired of the corporate world, he started his own business and became a Real Estate Investor, buying and selling properties and providing homes for others. Scott's hobbies included reading (especially the Bible), camping and hiking. But, of all of his life-long achievements, his most revered was that of being a loving and devoted father and family man.
Surviving are his beloved children, Wesley Freshwater, age 10 and Grace Freshwater, age 7; his wife of 22 years, Valerie Freshwater all of Hendersonville; his father and step-mother, Dick and Barb Freshwater of Dresden; three loving sisters Lisa (Raymond) Black of Powell, Ohio, Jennifer (Matthew) Krohn of New Albany, Ohio, and Nikki Freshwater (Jeff Yerian) of Cambridge, Ohio; and nephews Tyler and Ryan Black, Gus and Nate Krohn; In addition to his immediate family, he also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, many great friends, colleagues and blessed memories. May he rest in peace as we savor the times we were fortunate enough to share with him.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his grandparents Ralph and Kathryn Jacoby and Harry and Erma Freshwater.
Calling hours will be 1 to 3pm Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street. Memorial services will be at 3pm Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Greg Inboden officiating.
