Obituary

Sararose Hewitt, 93, of Newark, died Thursday evening, January 5, 2023 at Licking Memorial Hospital.

Born January 30, 1929 in Hanover Township, Licking County, she was a daughter of the late Grover C. "Bob" and Celia Marie (Hughes) Cartnal and a 1946 graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School.  Sararose retired from Newark Family Physicians where she worked in the office for eight years.  She was a member of Toboso United Methodist Church, past member of Hanover Presbyterian church and a longtime member of the Democratic Central Committee.  Sararose enjoyed playing cards, dancing, live music and word find puzzles.

Surviving are her two sons, Robert (Melody) Hewitt of Newark and Dan Hewitt of Toboso; four grandchildren, Melissa Hewitt, Heidi (Quincy Jackson) Hewitt, Tyler (Megan) Hewitt and Rebecca (Matt) Barclay; numerous great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, her husband, Richard W. Hewitt, whom she married on August 22, 1947 and died May 5, 2019; a son, Greg Hewitt; two brothers, Don Louis and James Lee Cartnal and two sisters, Marjorie Cartnal and Dorothy Woltjen.

Friends and family may call 12:00pm, noon, until time of service at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 12, 2023 with Pastor James Hall officiating.

Sararose will be laid to rest at Hanover Cemetery.
