NEWARK - A Celebration of Life Service for Sarah K. Shomaker, 99 of Newark will be Sunday October 8, 2006 at 4:30 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, with Pastors Glen Shourds and Gail Stevens-Shourds officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Shomaker passed away Tuesday October 3, 2006 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 21, 1907 in Newark to the late Franklin Delbert and Jessie Lea Belle (Showman) Doomy. Mrs. Shomaker was a charter member of the Utica LaSertoma, the oldest member of Heath United Methodist Church, a past member of the Moose Lodge and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award, given by Utica Sertoma. She was an avid baseball fan and loved to play push rummy. Survivors include her children, Lea Belle Riffle of Marion, Robert (Phyllis) Shomaker of Heath, Alva (Marcia) Shomaker of Utica, James (Bettie) Shomaker of Utica and Patricia (John) Ricket, Sr. of Hebron; a daughter in law, Marjorie Shomaker of Newark;30 grandchildren; 73 great grandchildren; 37 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shomaker was preceded in death by her husband, Delvin O. Shomaker, September 15, 1972; three children, William D. Shomaker, Ellen Marie Quinif, and Shirley Weakley; three brothers; and one sister. Friends may call from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday October 8, 2006 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W.
