Obituary

A funeral service for Sandra Kaye Turnbill Waters Schooler ?Bemaw?, will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. John Fields, officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. After a long battle with ovarian cancer, Sandy was called home to the Lord peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends at her residence. Born on March 15, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Sherman Turnbill and Hester Turnbill Maines, Sandy graduated from Licking Valley High School in 1972. She also received her Practical Nursing degree from Mid-East Ohio Vocational School in 1988. She was employed by Columbus Alzheimer?s Care Center for over 14 years and was truly loved by the residents, families, co-workers, and especially Dr. Liss. While living on East Main Street in Newark, Sandy became ?Mother? to several of her children?s friends. Some of her ?children? thanked her for being there when they were in need of ?mothering?. These and several other relationships have continued even since Sandy has moved from that neighborhood and the ?children? have become adults. The family would like to thank Lynn Eaton, M.D. and her staff at Camelot Women?s Center for their support and loving care through the past 8 years. Also, a special thanks to Hospice of Central Ohio for their kind and caring support. Sandy is survived by her children, Stacey Waters and James Higgins, Deena Waters and Harold Meeker, Mendy Waters and Frank (Pops) Robinson, Aaron Waters and Stephanie Williams, and Misty Schooler. Grandchildren, Jesse Waters, Brooklynne Metcalf, Zachary Higgins, Maykayla Metcalf, Quincy Robinson, Brenton and Lashaya Williams and Aria Gaumer. She is also survived by brothers and sisters in-law, Randy and Judy Turnbill and Kevin and Melissa Turnbill. A Special father, Robert Maines, also survives along with nephew, nieces, great nephew and niece, several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9PM and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, or to Hospice of Central Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
