S. Carroll Van Allen, 84, of Zanesville, Ohio died Tuesday afternoon December 19, 2023, at her home surrounded by family, as were her wishes.

Born January 2, 1939, in Upshur County West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late William J. & Vina (Anderson) Norman and a 1957 graduate of Frazeysburg High School.  Carroll was a Presbyterian by faith and devout in her religious approach to life, never missing a chance to hear the word of God.  She enjoyed eating ice cream and watching her birds and chipmunks but what she enjoyed the most was spending time with her family and loved ones.

Surviving is her son, Mike (Twila) Van Allen of Zanesville; daughter Ivanna (Steve) Eaton of Coshocton; grandson, Robert D. Michael of Coshocton and several nieces and nephews.  The family would like to give a very special thank you to Sandi Smith and Phyllis Roll for their love, support, and everything they have done to help fulfil Carroll's wishes of staying at home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Ivan N. Van Allen whom she married July 2, 1957 and who died February 21, 2014; three brothers, William 'Bill' Norman, Dana Norman, and Doyle Norman and two sisters, LaVaugh Hamilton and Anna Ruth Caynor.

Friends and family may call 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the funeral home with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating.

Carroll will be laid to rest next to her husband, Ivan, in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
