A funeral service for Ruth A. (Drew) Wells, 88 of Heath will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Mrs. Wells passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born July 24, 1922 in Great Bend, Kansas to the late George R. and Ada D. (Hoskins) Wells.
A graduate of Amherst High School, Mrs. Wells retired from Rawlings Golf in 1979. She had worked for Newark City Schools, Sears, General Hose, and Faultless Golf. She was a member of the Church of God and Gold Star Wives. During her retirement, she traveled throughout the states with her sisters. She was devoted to her family and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice (Donald ) Broceus; a son, Joseph (Brenda) Wells, both of Heath; grandchildren, Allison (Keith) Charles of Heath, Robert (Angela) Wells of Minneapolis, Craig Wells (Emily Bennett) of Newark, Melody (Mike) Field of Thornville, Shelley (Dean ) Foster of Georgia, and Doug (Renae) Broceus of Oklahoma; 8 great-grandchildren and one to arrive in February; one great-great grandchild and one to arrive in February; sisters, Marjorie Dunn of Elyria, Nancy Roye of South Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Donald (Imogene) Wells of Newark; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wells in 1954; and a sister, Joan Stark.
Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, at VENSIL-ORR & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
