Ruth Thomas, 89, of Dresden died at 6:05AM Wednesday October 14, 2009 at Morrison House Hospice. Mrs. Thomas was born October 21, 1919 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Ada (King) Prince. A 1937 graduate of Jefferson High School, she also graduated from the Meredith Business College in Zanesville. During the 1940?s she had worked at Timken Roller Bearing and American News, but most of her career was spent in Dresden. For many years she worked as secretary for Superintendent Norbert Kurtz in the Jefferson and Tri-Valley School District. Mrs. Thomas was a devoted mother and grandmother and a member of the Prospect United Methosdist Church. Surviving are two sons, Donald P. (Lynne) Thomas of Dresden, Roger H. (Darla) Thomas of Hebron; two grandchildren, Peter (Amber) Thomas of Johnson City, TN and Anna Thomas of Dresden. Preceding her in death were her husband, Harold E. Thomas on Feb. 22, 1996, whom she had married September 24, 1947 and an infant son Lynn Edward Thomas. She was the youngest of ten children in her family and was preceded in death by brothers, John, Donald, Russell and Edwin Prince, two infant brothers and sisters Edna Thomas, Mildred Thomas and Violet Prince. Friends may call Tuesday October 20, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8PM at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home where services will be held on Wednesday at 1PM with Pastor Sharon Williamson officiating.
