Ruth B. Studor, 101, of Adamsville, died Monday evening at Clay House, where she has been a resident since 1998. Mrs. Studor was born October 16, 1901 in Coshocton, a daughter of Edward H. and Liddy D. (Bainter) Gosser. She lived at Adamsville from the age of one. After marriage, she lived on the family farm north of Adamsville for 72 years. Educated in the Salem Rural School, she graduated from Dresden High School and Normal School; she attended Muskingum College and Ohio University. She was a schoolteacher from 1919 until 1925 in the Burnt Mill, Valley and Trinway Schools. She was a life long member of New Hope Lutheran Church, the Eureka Grange since 1925, the Muskingum County Women?s Extension Homemakers and served as a 4-H advisor for many years. Over the years she had attended four Associated Country Women Conferences in Australia, British Columbia, Michigan and Ireland. At the 100th anniversary celebration for 4-H, Mrs. Studor cut the cake to honor her as the oldest living 4-H member. The Adamsville club was the second to organize in Muskingum County. She is survived by daughter, Margaret Ann (Kenneth) Brown of Cortland; sister, Catherine Moore of Zanesville; son in law, Dr. E. Wain Martin of Bloomington, Ind., grandchildren, Stan (Margaret) Brown, Robert Martin, Sue (Bill) Reed, Linda (Greg) Mongold, Nancy Martin, Dr. Anne (Chat Hay) Martin-Ko; great grandchildren, Justin Reed, David Reed, Jonathan Mongold, Paul Mongold, Chim Chune Martin-Ko, Marianne Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Studor, whom she married June 11, 1925 and who died September 25, 1972; a daughter, Charlene R. Martin in March 2001; brother Karl Gosser, sisters Doris Wysong and Margaret Knicely. Friends may call 7-9PM Friday July 4, 2003 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home in Adamsville. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Saturday at the New Hope Lutheran Church, with visitation from 10AM until the time of service. Rev. Jennifer Czarnota will officiate. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
