Ruth Ann Carrel, 97, of Dresden, died at 7:50PM Saturday December 13, 2008 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice. Mrs. Carrel was born April 12, 1911 in New Lexington, a daughter of the late Franklin and Retta (Marks) Coakley. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, latch hook and loved playing cards and other games. Mrs. Carrel was an avid sports fan. She is survived by a son, Billy (Bernice) Carrel of Fairfield Glade, TN, a daughter, Joretta (Jim) McIlwain of Carroll; a sister, Vera Mae Huff of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Carrel on April 27, 1977; a daughter, Nancy J. Nusbaum on December 5, 2008; two brothers, Charles and Glenn Coakley and a sister, Pansy Woods. Friends may call 6-8PM Tuesday December 16, 2008 and one hour before a 1PM service Wednesday at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home. Pastor Max Williams will officiate.
