Roy E. Varner, 87, of Toboso, Ohio died Friday morning, February 15, 2013 at his home.
Born December 22, 1925 in Toboso he was a son of the late Raymond and Ethel (Hitchcock) Varner. Mr. Varner was a 1943 graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School and was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Navy. He retired with 37 years of service from Holophane Glass Company of Newark where he was a supervisor.
Surviving is his wife of over 66 years, Joan (Chalmers) Varner whom he married December 22, 1946; two sons, Bruce (Linda) Varner of Heath, Ohio and Randy Varner of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Beverly (Bob Brand) Chappelear of Newark; a sister and brother in-law, Helen Ann and Charlie Rogers of Toboso; seven grandchildren, Stacy (Roy Alexander) Chappelear of Newark, Scott (Charlotte) Chappelear of Frazeysburg, Shane Chappelear of Newark, B. J. (Ginger) Varner of Newark, Melinda Ludlow of Indiana, Brynn Varner and Kelsey Varner, both of Texas; eleven great grandchildren, including his "special buddy" Jordan Chappelear of Newark; four great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Varner.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services. Private burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
