Roy E. Crawmer, 86, of Toboso, Ohio died Saturday afternoon, January 10, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born August 28, 1928 in Licking County he was a son of the late Walter O. and Edna Alice (Frizzell) Crawmer and was a 1946 graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School. Mr. Crawmer was an Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He was employed with the Roper Company of Newark for 30 years and he worked for General Electric in Heath for 14 years. He was a member of the Toboso United Methodist Church; the American Legion Post #764 at Hanover and he served with the Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Surviving is his loving wife of over 64 years, Ruth A. (Harrison) Crawmer whom he married September 3, 1950; one daughter, Debra Sue (Dennis) Snively of Marne, Ohio; a son, Perry (Dominique) Crawmer of Toboso; four grandchildren, Amelia (Jason) McMahn; Andrea (Kevin) Lepley, Kayleigh Crawmer and Bryce (Paige) Crawmer; six great grandchildren, Jordan, Isiac, Alexix, Aiden, Kimberlyne and David.
Although Roy was the last of his immediate family, he is also survived by a nephew and a niece that were raised by Roy's parents, Edward (Glenda) Crawmer and Alice Fay Pennybaker, both of Newark; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition he is survived by sister in-law, Nancy Crawmer of Newark.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Jesse, Weldon, Harry and Brady Crawmer and two sisters, Frances Cramer and Anna Offenberger.
The Crawmer family would like to give a very special thanks to Genesis Hospice for all the wonderful help they provided during Roy's illness; to Billie Deck for all the cards that she sent and to Nancy Crawmer and Tina Robinson for all their help throughout; and to all the other friends and neighbors for their support.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the funeral home with the Rev. Dean Cole officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
