Obituary

Ronald J. Spiker, 64, of Adamsville, Ohio died Sunday afternoon, January 24, 2016 at his home.
Born February 12, 1951 in Akron, Ohio he is the son of Mabel (Isch) Spiker of Norwich, Ohio and the late Stewart Spiker. Mr. Spiker was a 1969 graduate of John Glenn High School and he received his bachelor's degree in agricultural economics and his master's degree in agribusiness from The Ohio State University. Ron worked for 34 years for Farm Credit Services where he served as a loan officer and certified appraiser. At the age of 16 he and his brother, Harold, formed Spiker Brothers Farms Partnership, now Spiker Brothers, LLC. The farm currently produces corn, soybeans, hay and beef cattle on 600 acres.
He was an active member of New Hope Lutheran Church where he served as a longtime member of the church council and as treasurer. He also served as a longtime member of the cemetery committee. Ron was a member and Past Master of Hubbard Lodge #220, F. & A. M., the Valley of Cambridge Scottish Rite, Muskingum County Farm Bureau, American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers and a member of the Muskingum County Extension advisory committee.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kristen (Klaiber) Spiker, whom he married September 14, 1974; his children, Kari (David) Burkey, Andrew (Ashlie) Spiker, Jonathan (Liz) Spiker and Allison (David) Simmons; his grandchildren, Braylie Burkey, Bronc Burkey, Dylon Matthews, Kendal Spiker, Lydia Spiker, Ezra Spiker and Evelyn Simmons. Also surviving are his brother, Harold (Denise) Spiker and his sister, Linda Helzer.
A caring and dignified cremation has taken place. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the New Hope Lutheran Church, 7025 Adamsville-Otsego Road, Adamsville.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be at 11:00am Friday, January 29 2016 at the church with Pastor Mary Molnar officiating.
