Obituary
A funeral service for Ronald L. Lyons, 71 of Pickerington will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Josh Remy and Steve Markle officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Lyons passed away after a short battle with cancer and associated complications on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Ohio State University Medical Center. He was born May 6, 1940 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Chester and Ethel Mae (Stroem) Lyons.
He retired in 2002 after 46 years with Delphi Automotive as a supervisor. He was a member of the Sycamore Creek Church. He was an avid OSU sports fan and golfer. He played golf daily at the High Lands Golf Course and had achieved a Hole in One in the past year.
Survivors include his wife, Patti S. (Simpson) Lyons, of 24 years, whom he married November 27, 1987; son, Brian (Diana) Lyons of Houghton Lake, Mich.; daughter, Paige Eberhart of Virginia; five grandchildren, Cameron, Eryn, Brandon, Sarah, Jeffrey; sister-in-law, Sandy Brooke of Newark; brother-in-law, Ron Simpson of Hopewell; three nieces and three nephews.
Calling hours will be observed Tuesday evening 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Arthur James Cancer Hospital,C/o James Cancer Hospital Development Office, 300 West Tenth Avenue, B-13-4-459, Columbus, Ohio 43210.
