A funeral service for Ronald E. ?Lefty? Hollingshead , 72 of Newark will be held Wednesday April 13, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Les Crossfield officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.Mr. Hollingshead died Saturday April 9, 2005 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born December 26, 1932 in Senecaville, Ohio to the late Hiram Hollingshead and Virgil (Hall) Hollingshead of Newark.Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Margaret E. ?Peg? (Sasser) Hollingshead, whom he married June 11, 1955; daughters, Kim Augenstein and Dave Williams of Newark, Pat (Joe) Lyons of Hebron; sons, Doug (Kim) Hollingshead of Powell, Scott (Melissa) Hollingshead of Hanover; brothers, John (Dorothy) Hollingshead, Jerry (Marjorie) Hollingshead, Everett (Judy) Hollingshead all of Newark; sisters, Marjorie (Dick) McConnell, Joyce (L.J.) McCreary both of Newark, Esther (Bill) Chapel of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Evelyn Hollingshead of Newark; grandchildren, Matthew Augenstein, Mark Augenstein, Mikey Augenstein, Ashlee Lyons, T.J. Lyons, Samantha Hollingshead, Luke Hollingshead, Burgandy Hollingshead, Levi Hollingshead; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.Mr. Hollingshead attended school in Wellston, Senecaville and Newark High School. In December 1949 he enlisted in the Ohio National Guard. He transferred to the U.S. Air Force March 1950 to December 1953. While in the Air Force he obtained the rank of Sgt. He was an Air Radio E.C.M. operator on a B-24 crew in a SAC unit. He received the National Defense and Good Conduct metals. He retired with 30 years service in 1984 from Owens Corning Fiberglas as the Warehouse Shipping Operations Supervisor. He was a life member of Eagles # 387, member of American Legion Post 85, VFW Post 1060, Crusaders Lodge # 720 F & AM, and Owens Corning Fiberglas 25 year Club. He was an avid NASCAR and sports fan and enjoyed golfing.In addition to his father, a brother, Bing Hollingshead preceded him in death.Calling hours will be observed Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.
