FRAZEYSBURG – Ronald L. "Duck" Hardesty, Sr., 66, of Hopewell, Ohio died Tuesday evening, July 12, 2011 in the emergency room of Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio.
Born September 10, 1944 in Zanesville, Ohio he was the son of the late Donald L. and Margarite J. (Connolly) Hardesty. He was a 1963 graduate of Frazeysburg High School and was member of the Army National Guard for 20 years. He was a retired from the maintenance department of Rockwell International and was a member of the Rockwell Retirees Club. Mr. Hardesty enjoyed watching sports, hunting, fishing and was an avid golfer.
Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Verna J. Winegardner whom he married June 7, 1964; three sons, Ronald L. (Bev) Hardesty, Jr. of Gratiot, Ohio, Scott P. (Mary) Hardesty, Zanesville and Bob K. (Robin) Hardesty of Ft. Lewis, Washington; two daughters, Rhonda L. (Dale) Dunlap of Hopewell and Jennifer S. (Bryon) Sokoloski of Welland, Canada; one brother, John M. (Karen) Hardesty of Walhonding, Ohio; twenty-one grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a step brother, Robbie Clark; a step sister, Sherry Clark; several nieces and nephews and his dogs "Sadie and "Coda".
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda McCune; a granddaughter, Ashli Parmer and a great grandson, Corey Morris.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, July 18, 2011 at the funeral home with the Rev. Adelbert Winegardner officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Fork Cemetery, Gratiot, Ohio.
