Rollen W. Vansickle, 85, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Nashport, Ohio died Wednesday evening, December 9, 2020 at Ohio Hospice of Dayton.
Born September 23, 1935 in Adamsville, Ohio he was a son of the late John W. and Sylvia (Morton) Vansickle. Rollen proudly served our country in the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver for Ohio Oil Gatherings for many years and following his retirement he became a school bus driver for Tri-Valley Schools. Rollen attended the Nashport-Irville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed tractors and gardening and he plowed gardens for many of his friends and neighbors each spring.
Surviving is his wife Norma J. (Coyle) (Balsley) Vansickle whom he married March 16, 1991; a step-daughter, Venesha (Mark Wuollet) Markle of Dayton, Ohio; one step-granddaughter, Brooke (Gary) Leppla and a step-great grandson, Dylan Leppla. Rollen was a "special father" to three children that he raised. They were his first wife's brothers and sister, Ron (Carol) Deshong of Richland Hills, Texas, Bonnie (Bob) Nelson of Coshocton, Ohio and Jerry Deshong, who is deceased. Also surviving is one brother, Paul (Kate) Vansickle of Adamsville; a sister, Ada Roberts of Coshocton and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly A. (Deshong) Vansickle whom he married April 29, 1956 and who died July 20, 1990; four brothers, Ross, Roy, Ray and Ralph Vansickle and three sisters, Nellie McDonald, Hazel Roahrig and Helen Hunter.
Calling hours will be 2pm to 5pm Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, December 14, 2020 at the Nashport-Irville United Methodist Church, 7941 O'Bannon Road, Nashport, Ohio with Pastor Kenneth Daft officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
Masks are required at both the calling hours and the funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
