A memorial service for Roger W. Speakman, 63 of Newark will be held Friday June 9, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Homes with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Mr. Speakman died Monday June 5, 2006 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born March 8, 1943 to the late Ovid W. Speakman and Bernice (Rutter) Daniel of Chillicothe, Ohio. He is a retired self-employed auto body repairman. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed fishing. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. Survivors including his mother are his wife Amy (McKown) Speakman whom he married April 23, 1993;children, Kristina (Joe) Kaple of Delaware, Brooke Speakman of Delaware, Timothy Plummer of Los Angeles, CA.; step-children, Celina Blackmon of Newark, John (Kristie) Lorey of BelleValley, Ohio; brother, Michael (Juanita) Speakman of Columbus; sisters, Cindy (Scott) Clipse of Columbus, Judy (Rick) Morris of Waverly, Betty Kellough of Charleston, SC.; grandchildren, Ashley, Laura, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Kevin, Nicholas, Katrina, Levi, Trevor; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Donnie Speakman and Keith Speakman. Visitation will be held Friday 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home, 1850 West Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roger Speakman Memorial Fund C/o Fifth Third Bank at any location. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
