Roger J. Lear, Sr., of Dresden, died at 11:35AM Tuesday August 19, 2003 at Morrison House Hospice. Mr. Lear was born October 2, 1941 in Roseville a son of the late Burl Eugene Lear and Louisa Lanning Lear of Ironspot. He operated Lear?s Heating, Cooling and General Contracting in Dresden for many years. An active mason, he was a past master of Dresden Lodge #103 F&AM. Surviving are his wife, Martha A. (Prince) Lear; his children, Roger J. Lear, Jr., of Wakatomika, Brian K. (Jamie) Lear of Zanesville, Michelle (John) Tredway of Philo, Sherry (Rick) Dillow of Portmouth, Jennifer (Troy) Coen of Philo, step children, David Baker of Dresden, Kenneth (Julie) Baker of Chillicothe; 13 grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; step-mother, Margaret L. Lear of Zanesville, brother, Raymond (Jane) Lear of Ironspot, sister of Mary Ellen (Earl) Pride of Roseville; half brothers and sisters, Darrell (Judy) Lear of Zanesville, Bill (Eleanor) Lear of Dresden, James Richard (Pamela) Lear of Zanesville, Beryl Lynn (Gary) Darby of Zanesville who provided many long hours of tender loving care while at Morrison House, Roxann (Tom) Baker of Zanesville and several nieces and nephews. A stepson, Ronald Baker is deceased. Friends may call from 4-8PM Thursday August 21, 2003 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home in Dresden where services will be held at 1PM Friday with Rev. Peter S. Mathewson officiating. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery. A Masonic service will be held at 8PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Lodge members and guests from other lodges may gather at the lodge hall across the street from the funeral home to participate in the service.
