Roger E. Bowen, 81, formerly of Nashport, Ohio died Saturday morning February 11, 2023 at his home in Zanesville.

Born August 4, 1941 in Middleport, Ohio he was a son of the late Earl and Mildred (Farley) Bowen and was a 1958 graduate of Roseville High School.  Roger proudly served our country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.  He was a member of the Nashport-Irville United Methodist Church and a former member of the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church.  Roger worked as an engineer for Rockwell International, where he retired after 38 years.

Roger loved new adventures and challenges, some of which include running a marathon, scuba diving, piloting himself across the country, white water rafting, learning to paint and to be an excellent cook.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and taking trips to Canada with his grandson Caden.  Roger's greatest joy was his family and friends.

Surviving is his loving wife, Ruby Jane (Van Wey) Bowen whom he married September 22, 1962; son, Brian E. (Elsa) Bowen of Buckeye Lake; two daughters, Babette (Jim) Dente of Longmont, Colorado and Bridget (Sue) Bowen of Reynoldsburg; ten grandchildren, Savannah and Jazzmin Bowen, Madison Miller, Chris, Megan, Michael, and Amy Dente, Alyssa Schlicher, Jade McEvoy and Caden White; eight great grandchildren; brother Earl (Sandy) Bowen, Jr. and a sister, Debbie Bowen.

Friends and family may call from 1pm to 3pm Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.

Funeral services will be 3:00pm, Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Belt and Pastor Bob Beyers officiating.
